“If we don’t use self regulation skills, we may hurt someone within an instant with our words.

My suggestions for self regulation are…

1. Do not react.

2. Breathe and ask yourself how vital it is to say, and will you deliver it with kindness and empathy.

3. Listen without judgement.

4. Take a break from the conversation so that you can…

5. Respond respectfully and with compassion.

If we follow these suggestions, we may avoid a hurtful moment that may take years, if ever, to repair.

Enter every conversation with empathy and love, as you see the other person as you.”
