THE HUMPTY DUMPTY SYNDROME- WENDY BLANCHARD, MS, CHHC, CPS

Families become destroyed when a family member lives with Substance Use Disorder or Alcohol Use Disorder.

Sometimes, when the family member living with Substance Use/Alcohol Use Disorder gets well and makes amends, and sustainable lifestyle changes, the family can heal.

And, sometimes the deep wounds will never heal due to too much untreated trauma where one or more family members are not willing to do the work, unwilling to forgive, and/or they may be living with these disorders themselves and choose not to make changes, and the family is in what I call the “Humpty Dumpty Syndrome.”

Either each family member does their own healing individually, and together with the family…ongoing and willingly, and if not, “All the  Kings horses and all the kings men cannot put Humpty together again.”
